Madeleine Moon MP - Working hard for Bridgend
Madeleine Moon MP welcomed Delyth Hopkins, her mum Alison and Jane Elliott from the Bridgend Young Carers Project to the House of Commons on Wednesday.
Earlier this year, First Great Western offered free tickets for any journey for use by a charity in my constituency. I contacted Bridgend Young Carers Project with the offer of the tickets and said if anyone wished to come to Westminster, I would extend this to include two tickets to attend Prime Minister’s MQs and a tour of the House of Commons. Delyth, who is a young carer and her mum, chose to use the tickets to visit London with the support of Jane Elliott.
Madeleine said
“Delyth, Alison and Jane had a thoroughly enjoyable day which included seeing Prime Minister’s Questions, a trip on the London and a tour of the Churchill War Rooms.”
“The day was made possible thanks to the generosity of First Great Western for their offer of free tickets. I have to thank the staff of the House of Commons for their willingness to facilitate access to all areas and to increase my allocation of tickets for Prime Minister’s Questions. The three ladies also had the wonderful opportunity to see the panorama of London thanks to the London Eye providing free tickets.”
“My final thanks go to the Director of the Churchill War Rooms, Gerry McCartney, who offered both free entry and first class assistance on the day and paid for a taxi back to Paddington.”
“I would like to thank everybody who ensured that it was a great day out and one that Delyth, Alison and Jane will remember.”
“Like all young carers, Delyth works extremely hard to help and support her mum and this was a small way of recognising and thanking young carers for the selfless support they offer.”
