Madeleine Gets The Pints In For Proud Of Pubs Week

 

Local MP Madeleine Moon got behind the bar at The Pelican In Her Piety, in Ogmore by Sea, to raise awareness of Proud of Pubs Week.

Madeleine is one of more than 100 MPs visiting a pub during the week long national celebration, organised by The Publican Magazine, which ran from July 8 to 15.

Madeleine spoke to the pubs owner, Stephen Fisher, as well as some of the regulars  about issues that concerned them, while pulling pints and serving drinks behind the bar.

Madeleine said: "I think schemes like this are a fantastic way for me to stay in touch with our local area. Pubs, like Post Offices and shops, are an essential part of a local community and it is vital that we recognise and support the role that they play."

Madeleine concluded that: "I hope that the residents of Bridgend will continue to support their local pubs - while of course drinking responsibly - and keep the traditional British pub as a vital part of the local community."
