Are you an older person who's been in hospital recently?

The Older People’s Commissioner for Wales is undertaking a review of older people’s treatment whilst in hospital. I am very keen to aid this review by providing evidence from older people who live in the Bridgend constituency.

The aims of the review are to consider older people’s experience, both good and bad, when they were hospital in-patients, and then to make practical recommendations where people were not treated with dignity and respect.

The Inquiry Panel is seeking written evidence from older people who have been, or are in, a general or community hospital. Evidence is also welcomed from older people’s families, friends, advocates and organisations working with and for older people from all sectors, about the experiences of older people whilst they are in hospital. Evidence should relate to stays of five or more consecutive days and be based on experiences within the last two years.

Evidence may be submitted in the form of an open letter detailing their experiences, which can be written directly to the Older People’s Commissioner (Secretariat to the Inquiry Panel, Cambrian Buildings, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff, CF10 5PL). Alternatively, I have enclosed copies of a questionnaire that can be distributed to interested parties and returned to my office by Monday 9th August.

I hope that through this review the services provided to older people by the NHS can continue to improve. Please click the pdf box and print the survey, then send it back to me! Many thanks!NHS Questionnaire
