Bridgend MP says don’t forget National Voter Registration Day - 5 February 2014

In celebration of the anniversary of the Great Reform Act and the introduction of voter registration, there will be a national day of events with the aim of ensuring that as many people as possible register to vote - and that 250,000 of them do so on ‘NVRD’.

 Bridgend MP Madeleine Moon said:

In the 2010 Election only 44% of 18 – 24 year olds voted while 76% of people over the age of 65 cast their votes. Who are the politicians going to listen to and write policies for, those people who are on the electoral register and vote.  Voting gives you power; if you are not on the electoral register take the opportunity to register on 5 February.

This national day of action has huge potential in bringing us closer to witnessing the largest turn-out of voters at the next General Election, whilst crucially, helping us build a more robust and reliable register in preparation for the transition to individual electoral registration. It is individual members of public - signing up in at - and who are helping to make history on Wednesday 5 February 2014.
