Madeleine Champions Local Waste Management Company In Parliament

Local Waste Management Company Championed In Parliament

Madeleine Moon, MP for Bridgend, today held a debate in Parliament, in which she highlighted the unique technology developed by Inetec; a company based in Bridgend.

The unique technology that has been developed by Inetec converts both food waste and its packaging into renewable energy and is attracting huge interest from many of the largest food production companies in the UK, including Northern Foods and Greencore.

It is increasingly apparent that we must find alternative means of providing power. Energy consumption is continuing to rise at a staggering rate, populations continue to grow; and the worlds energy dfemands are predicted to reach an all time high by 2050. Madeleine therefore took the opportunity too hold a Westminster Hall debate to call on the Government to give further assistance to companies such as Inetec; and to announce initiatives to liberate innovative ues of waste to generate heat and power so that food can provide energy for the body, the home and industry.

Madeleine commented that: "At present the UK produces over 17 million tonnes of food waste every year and i am proud that Inetec have come up with a solution to this growing problem that not only removes the waste, but also helps to generate large quantities of renewable energy from sources which were previously being squandered."

This debate has come at a very important time. Yesterday, the government released its Planning White Paper and is due to announce the Ennergy White Paper tomorrow. Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Davind Miliband MP will also announce a recycling and waste startegy tomorrow.
