Madeleine Begins Consultation with Bridgend’s Carers
Local MP Madeleine Moon has begun a consultation of local carers in the ‘your say’ section of her website: www.madeleinemoonmp.com
Madeleine said: “There are 6million carers in the UK, including nearly 10,000 in Bridgend, all of whom perform a vital service that makes a real difference in another person’s everyday life. The role of carers can be extremely rewarding, but also incredibly demanding and stressful.”
Madeleine’s consultation comes just after Carers Week, an annual event to highlight the work that carers do all over the UK, looking after a frail, ill or disabled loved one.
Madeleine continued: “I want to hear from carers in our community, to find out more about their experiences and how they feel that their role could be made easier. There are some excellent facilities in Bridgend for carers, including the Bridgend Carers Centre and I hope that through this consultation we may be able to feed back into those services and make them even more effective.”
Madeline has also provided a link on her site to the current NHS Carers consultation, which can be found at: www.newdealforcarers.org A host of well-known faces are supporting Carers Week, including Esther Rantzen, Coleen Nolan and Brenda Blethyn.
