Madeleine donates books to Parc Prison Library

Madeleine Books Into Summer Reading Challenge

Bridgend MP, Madeleine Moon, is backing the Big Wild Read, a campaign to get children along to libraries and keep them reading through the summer holidays.

Attending the Parliamentary event on Tuesday 17th July, Madeleine picked up some books that she has donated to Parc Prison Library.

Madeleine said: "I fully support this campaign as it is vitally important that all of our children not only have access to books, but are also actively encouraged to read them." She went on to say: "I donated the books from last Tuesdays event to the Parc Prison Library. It is important that prison does not prevent a father from being an active parent, estranged from their children. I hope that these books will be used and read by children visiting the prison. They give the opportunity for prisoners who are fathers to read with their children and encourage them to visit the library and borrow some books."
