Hats Hats Hats! Madeleine
says Thank You!

Several
months ago Madeleine Moon, Bridgend MP took up the challenge of
encouraging groups to take part in the Save the Children
‘Knit One, Save
One’ Hat campaign.
Madeleine
said:
“The
response has been overwhelming and within weeks bags of multi
coloured hats were being delivered to my Bridgend
office. I had over two
thousand hats stored and they just kept on coming.
“
“All the
Churches, Women’s Institutes, Voluntary organisations and many
others have become involved and now that the campaign has ended I
have collected over five thousand hats.”
“I invited
all the knitters to a coffee afternoon to personally thank everyone
for their wonderful response and a member of Save the Children
charity came along to give a presentation and arrange collection of
all the hats.”
All tea,
coffee and biscuits were kindly donated by
Tesco’s.
These hats
will go to vulnerable newborn babies and children up to the age of
5. They will be
delivered all over Africa and Asia, and will help children survive
by keeping them warm and preventing pneumonia, a major cause of
death amongst children in these countries.
The Save the
Children hat campaign has now ended but please visit:

campaigns and ways to help.
