On Friday 20th July, Madeleine paid a visited Tondu Primary School, to present the school with their latest Basic Skills Quality Mark.

The Basic Skills Quality Mark is awarded to a school when their pupils meet the required standard for reading, writing and arithmetic. This is the third time that Tondu Primary has achieved the Basic Skills Mark.

Madeleine said: "I am delighted that the hard work of the pupils of Tondu Primary has paid off again. They can be very proud of their achievement, the skills that they have learnt here will stand them in good stead throughout the rest of their education."

Madeleine also presented Oxfam Cymru with a cheque from the school, after a recent sponsored fun day was held. The School, its pupils and supporters helped to raise over £250 for the charity.

Madeleine said: "Not only can everybody involved in the school be proud of the money that they have raised for Oxfam, but they can also take pride in the sense of community and charity that the children learn from being part of events such as these."
