New statistics out this morning from the Office of National Statistics compare average spending by households over the last decade. The findings speak for themselves and the implications are huge: In 2006 the average household had £526 per week to spend, by 2012 this had fallen to £489. There will be no real or sustainable recovery in the UK until this squeeze stops. See the ONS’ infographics page for more...

Over 30 Students from a year 10 Geography class visited Parliament today at the start of their two day geography field trip to London. There was a bit of a panic getting them into the Committee room at the very top of the building but we eventually managed. The students also had the opportunity to watch a debate in the Commons itself before they carried on their London adventure.

MQ-9_Reaper.jpgThe RAF's 39 Squadron is responsible for flying and operating the UK's MQ-9 Reaper Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAs). 2013-energy-price-freeze.pngNow that even John Major is admitting that the Government has to do more to tackle rising energy bills and the cost of living crisis the silence on the issue from the government is becoming deafening.

We know what Labour would do- cap our bills for 20 months while we undertake a root and branch re-construction of the energy market, bringing in proper competition and a regulator with the teeth to hold the big players to account. We still haven’t got a clue however what the Government are going to do about it. People need action now rather than later.
