Madeleine Moon MP was invited to speak at the Mental Health Matters AGM on Friday 30th January, held at the Heronston Hotel in Bridgend.

Madeleine praised the charity for their work saying:

"Unfortunately, mental health is a matter that concerns everyone. In this country, mental health issues affect 1 in 4 of the population yet we are still embarrassed and consider it a failure to suffer from mental health problems".

Madeleine also discussed her work on the Coroner's Bill, now before Parliament. The Coroner's Bill will contain important provisions relating to suicide and bereaved families here in Bridgend. The MP voiced her opinion that there should be increased data collection in relation to suicide, that clusters of suicides should be investigated through the use of psychological autopsies, and that there should be tighter controls on websites that promote and encourage suicide. Madeleine has been appointed to the committee that will scrutinise and amend this Bill before it becomes law.
