MP Congratulates Lloyds TSB for charitable giving

Bridgend MP Madeleine Moon has congratulated Lloyds TSB for the grants it has given to charities working in the Bridgend constituency through its Lloyds TSB Foundation.

Four large grants totalling over £450,000, were awarded to local organisations by the Foundation in 2010. The largest of these, for £308,100 was awarded to a partnership project between mental health charity Gofal, learning disability charity Cartrefi Cymru, and Parc Prison. Other charities receiving awards were Home-Start Bridgend, the Bridgend and District Citizen's Advice Bureau, and the Bridge Mentoring Plus Scheme. 82 grants were awarded in Wales in total, with a total value of £1.65 million.

Madeleine said:

"At a time when all of the headlines about banks are bad, I think it is right that Lloyds TSB is commended for the money it distributes to good causes through the Lloyds TSB Foundation. These are very substantial donations to organisations that are doing excellent work and much-needed work in our community."

"I recommend that all charitable organisations working in the Bridgend constituency who want to apply to the Lloyds TSB Foundation for a grant should visit their website at www.lloydstsbfoundations.org. I hope that the bank continues to support good causes in the Bridgend constituency in the future."
