A tumultuous week in Parliament has seen the Government’s foreign and domestic policies come under attack. The Government suffered a humiliating defeat in the Lords over their Brexit Bill. Tory rebels voting with the opposition to force a debate on staying in the Cus-toms Union. The debacle over the Windrush Generation has only added to the Government’s woes, making the rhetoric around "Global Britain" look quite empty and hollow. Rev-elations into Council cuts hitting Labour areas hardest only made a bad week worse for the Government.
The airstrikes in Syria over the weekend caused plenty of controversy in the House. Although a legitimate case can be made either way in regard to taking action, many Members have been rightly concerned of the lack of consultation with Parliament.
I have spent the week in the Balkans with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. This visit gave Members of the Alliance the perfect opportunity to further the network building and engagement in the region and to monitor the progress the area has made since the wars which ravaged the Countries so recently. A task in which British delegates can play vital role.
