Visit to Bridgend College

Bridgend College VisitBridgend MP Madeleine Moon visited a group of College students last week who are coming up to Parliament in December.

Madeleine said:

“I met with the IT Students and after a Q&A session were keen to talk about their current campaigns. I was impressed to hear about their Anti-Bullying campaign which they have set up to support Anti Bullying fortnight. They are raising awareness by selling blue wrist bands stating Beatbullying and I have the right to be safe written on them. They conducted research within the area and have found that 99% of people have been bullied, particularly at school.  They are also working on a social enterprise – One Cwtch which will generate funds for Ty Hafan.

Coincidentally Parliaments Outreach Department also visited Bridgend College this week to meet with Business students.  A presentation was delivered along with a quiz and leaflets informing students about the work of Parliament.  The Outreach Team can arrange to visit any School or College increasing the knowledge of students in how parliamentary democracy works, how it affects them and how they can become involved.
