The House returned this week for the usual short September sitting (all of 7 days) before rising again on 14th September for the party conferences. Unsurprisingly the issues which dominated proceedings prior to the summer break remain largely the same, although with the passage of time, the stakes are getting higher as each day goes by.
The new parliamentary term recommenced with its characteristically unrelenting pace as MPs continued to wrestle with Brexit. Although there is a new Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, the issues with Brexit and the increasing possibility of no deal all remain. I anticipate an even busier term as the negotiations are now beginning to reach a crescendo.
